Pick the cut first
Knowing the guard number before you sit down saves five minutes of guessing. Show your barber the name, or just the number.
0–2Guard
Skin fade
Bare at the neckline, blended up into length on top. The blend is the whole job — done properly there is no line where one length becomes the next. Grows out fastest, so plan on about three weeks.
2–4Guard
Mid taper fade
Softer contrast, starting higher on the head. Holds its shape longer than a skin fade, which makes it the practical pick if you want one cut to carry you.

Scissor cut
Cut entirely with shears, no clippers on top. Point-cut through the ends to take weight out without losing length, so it falls naturally instead of sitting in a block. Grows out well.
ScissorMod & classic
Mod cut
A proper side part or a French crop with a real disconnect — the sharp, tailored end of barbering. Ask at Guelph or Waterloo, where we cut these most.

Crew cut
Short and even all over, a little longer at the front. Nothing to style in the morning, and the lowest-maintenance cut we do.

How many Othman's Barbershop locations are there?
Four. Two in Kitchener — Lancaster and Westheights — plus Waterloo on Albert St and downtown Guelph on Macdonell St. Every shop takes walk-ins and online bookings, and every shop cuts to the same standard.
Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?
Both. Walk-ins are welcome at every location and always have been. Booking online is the safer bet after 4:00 PM on weekdays, all day Saturday, and during the first weeks of each school term. Online booking takes under a minute and lets you pick your barber.
Can I choose my barber?
Yes. Online booking lets you select a specific barber by name at each location. If you have been in before and remember who cut your hair, book them directly — they will have your previous cut on file.
Do you cut children's hair?
Yes, at all four shops, from one month old through thirteen years at a discounted children's rate. Westheights is our most family-focused location. If it is a first haircut, tell us when you book.
Do you take cash, and is there an ATM?
We take debit, all major credit cards and cash. Every shop has an Othman's-managed ATM inside with all service charges waived, so there is no fee to withdraw — for your cut or your barber's tip.
Do you offer student pricing?
Yes, at Waterloo and Guelph, with a valid student ID — University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier, University of Guelph and Conestoga students all qualify. Bring your card or have it on your phone.
Which location is open the latest?
Waterloo. Our Albert St shop is open until 11:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, which makes it the most accessible late-night barbershop in the region. The other three shops run to 7:30 PM on weekdays.
What hair types do your barbers cut?
All of them. Straight, wavy, curly, coily, fine, thick. Our barbers cut every hair type and texture, and every appointment opens with a consultation so the cut suits your hair rather than fighting it.
