Men's haircut style guide

Every cut we do, numbered, with the line to say when you sit down. Find the one you want, remember the number, and tell your barber — or just show them this page. No guessing, no "a bit shorter than last time".

Pick a number

Each one lists how to ask for it. Bring a photo as well if you have one — between the number and the picture, your barber knows exactly what you are after.

Most people book a haircut with a photo on their phone and a rough idea. That works, but it leaves the important part unsaid: how short on the sides, where the fade starts, whether the top is cut with clippers or shears. A barber can only match what you can describe.

So every cut below is numbered and written out in the words your barber uses. Guard numbers where a guard applies, the shape on top, where the taper begins, and roughly how long it holds before it needs doing again. Find the one you want, and either say the number or hand over your phone with this page open.

If two look close, ask for the one with the softer contrast — a fade that is slightly too subtle grows into the right shape, and one that is too sharp does not.

About these images: they are AI-generated reference illustrations showing the shape of each cut, not photographs of our own work. Want to see photographs and videos of what we actually cut? See the latest from the chair →
