Prices, in plain terms
How much is a haircut at Othman's?
A men's haircut is $35 and takes about 30 minutes, consultation included. A zero fade is $38 and a skin fade is $40. A haircut with a beard trim is $53, and with a hot towel shave from $58. A line-up between cuts is $12. Children and seniors 65+ are discounted at every shop.
What is the difference between a skin fade, a zero fade and a taper fade?
A skin fade ($40) goes bare at the neckline and blends up — the sharpest and the fastest to grow out. A zero fade ($38) is clipper-close rather than bare, so it holds a week or two longer. A mid taper fade ($35) starts higher with softer contrast and grows out without a hard line, which makes it the lowest-maintenance of the three.
Do you do hot towel shaves?
Yes, at all four shops — straight razor, hot towel, taken slowly. It is from $58 booked together with a haircut. It is the service people travel for, so book it rather than walking in, and allow 45 minutes.
Do you cut children's hair, and from what age?
Yes, from one month old to thirteen years, at a discounted rate, at all four shops. Westheights and Lancaster are the two most used to first haircuts. For safety, children's haircuts do not include straight razor work.
Do you offer student pricing?
At Waterloo and Guelph, with a valid student ID — from $30 in Waterloo and $33 in Guelph, across the student menu rather than just the basic cut. University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier, University of Guelph and Conestoga all qualify. Details are on the student cuts page.
Are prices the same at all four shops?
Close, but not identical. The prices listed here are our standard rates and they hold at all four shops, but individual shops vary a little, so treat the list as the guide rather than a quote. Your shop confirms the exact price when you book, and the barber will tell you before they start. Waterloo and Guelph add a student menu on top of it, and shops occasionally run their own limited-time packages. Anything shop-specific is on that shop's page.
Do I need to book, or can I walk in?
Either. Walk in whenever a chair is free and you will be seen. Booking online takes under a minute, lets you pick your barber by name, and is the safer call for evenings, Saturdays and anything longer than a haircut.
What payment do you take?
Card, tap and cash at every shop. Waterloo and Guelph also have a no-fee ATM on site.
